Ngapali Beach – 5 best things to do
The 7-kilometer beach of your dreams has turquoise-colored water and soft white sand. One of our favorite beaches in Asia is Ngapali Beach, which can be found in Myanmar. Yes, Myanmar is home to some amazing, unexplored beaches. The coastline is lined with perfect palm trees, and there is still very little tourism, so the beaches are almost completely deserted. Discover one of Asia’s most stunning beaches.
Relax in Ngapali beach
Ngapali beach is a place to unwind and soak up the sun, but there are also other things to do like kayaking, snorkeling, or scuba diving among the vibrantly colored fish, as well as cycling or motorbiking down the beach and through some of the nearby villages.
1. Explore Ngapali beach by bicycle
One long main road runs along the coastline in the peaceful neighborhood of Ngapali. At around 8:30 in the morning, rent a bike and head out. Since the distance is only about 10 kilometers, you can return before it gets too hot.

2. Boat tour in the morning
On boat tours, you can request to visit fishing villages, nearby islands, go snorkeling, or see the Tilawkasayambhu Buddha, which is located on a hilltop south of Ngapali and offers sweeping views of the bay and the ocean. By bike or motorcycle, you can get to the Buddha if you’re feeling particularly daring. You must proceed all the way to the southernmost point of the bay, up the hill, and keep in mind that the final stretch is fairly difficult and rocky. This is Ngapali’s main beach. The Buddha is visible from every angle of the bay, making the direction obvious.

3. Witness a beautiful sunset
The sun is in the ideal position at Ngapali Beach. The beach is in shadow in the morning, so you can go for a morning run or walk. When the sun sets, it takes on a spherical shape and sinks into the water. Memorable!

4. Enjoy fresh seafood
Unsurprisingly, Ngapali’s delicious fresh seafood, which includes fried squid, king prawns, lobster, snapper, barracuda, fish curries, and more, is one of the island’s delights.

Most hotels have beach view restaurants that are open to the tourists. And for lunch, a fun (and inexpensive) option is to visit the beachside restaurants centered around Angel Bar and Ngapali beach which is located roughly halfway down the main beach. Just off the coast to the south of Ngapali beach, Pearl Island is a charming spot where giant lobsters are served up at a restaurant with sun canopies that line the beach.
5. Relax on Ngapali beach
You can enjoy the comfortable feeling of sunbathing next to the beach. Or immerse yourself in the cool, clear blue water. Ngapali Beach attracts a large number of tourists each year due to its breathtaking natural beauty. This is the ideal place for you to relax after a long day of work.

There are a few ladies walking on the beach, selling fruits, and in the late afternoon, locals come out to play with their children in the sea. If you’re tired of relaxing, there are a few small local stalls down the beach that rent out water floaties and paddleboards for a sunset paddleboard moment.

The best time to visit Ngapali Beach
Visit Ngapali Beach between October and May, if possible. The sky is blue and the temperatures are warm during these months. The majority of the hotels close their doors and there are hardly any flights to the area from June to September, making travel virtually impossible.
