E-Travel Myanmar crafted the perfect 10-day itinerary across Yangon, Inle Lake, Bagan, and Mandalay. The domestic flights between destinations maximized our time exploring rather than traveling. Our guide in Bagan, Aung, deserves special praise—his knowledge of temple history and best sunset viewing spots was exceptional. The hotel selections were spot-on, especially the lakeside accommodation in Inle. Outstanding value with their local connections and attention to detail.read less

It was significantly more expensive than other recommended tour operators, yet when we read between the lines, we began to see that this was going to meet more of our needs and expectations. We were not disappointed.Let's start with service. We were greeted at the dock with tea and menus. Our specific dietary needs / food allergies were acknowledged by Heritage before we even filled out our food choices. And with regards to these menus, they were quite elaborate, multi course meals. But we will get to that later. We were then introduced to the Sam, the assistant manager who was our point contact for the experience. Sam was amazing. He provided insight on our tours in excellent English, made sure every need was addressed, conducted the cooking classes, explained proper tea preparation, and guided us under natural rock tunnels via kayak. I can't say enough about Sam, as he was constantly making sure everyone was happy with the cruise.Food: Amazing! Presentation was off the charts - to the level of 'starred' dining. The taste and flavor was equal to the presentation. Some favorites included crab and asparagus soup, seared sea bass, duck confit.... you get the idea. This was beyond a doubt the best dining of our trip. Service was also great - always present and rarely noticed. Rooms: We had a base cabin and there was nothing basic about it. Beautiful soaker tub, walk in large shower, nice desk area, comfortable King bed, mulitple services per day to make sure we had towels, fresh filtered water, etc... Because this is a smaller boat, there was always access to a lounge chair, shade, etc.... It is intentionally quiet. So one night we could hear the dull 'thump thump' of the bass on another boat, and we were quite glad that we were on the Ylang instead! Spa: We booked the included massage. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the service was comparable to the best of the massages places we had booked in Vietnam during our trip.Overall experience: all of the small things were so good, that we cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our time on the Ylang and with Sam. Particular callout to the day we kayaked to the beach (we are experienced paddlers comfortable over longer distances) we went around a bit of the bay on our own.read less

We could not have asked for a more exquisite way to celebrate our special day. The meals served aboard were as gourmet and delectable as one could ask for. The accommodations were above that of a five star hotel. The service was top notch, and as good as we have ever had the pleasure of being treated to. In short, this was one of the greatest lodging and dining experiences of our lives. Oh, yeah…. The scenery is stunning! Thank you, Quan and the terrific staff of the Ginger!read less

The crew were amazing and provided outstanding service to all of the guests. The ship was beautiful and well appointed with great facilities. The experience was amazing and offered the opportunity to experience the way of life and culture of those local residents living along the river. We were provided with local tours of the villages, schools and temples and got to meet and talk to the local people in the villages. We also toured some cities and visited palaces and temples. Visiting the S21 prison and talking to survivors from the Khmer Rouge prisons was very emotional and educational. The food and entertainment on the ship was excellent. Overall, the crew was amazing and the experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity.read less
