Mingalaba! Welcome to Mandalay, the city of great culture and architecture. Today’s adventure will give you an amazing opportunity to discover the charm of Mandalay on a bicycle. At 7:30 this morning, meet our guide at the hotel and then start your morning ride to the sprawling Zegyo market, the oldest and most significant market in Mandalay. It’s where you will capture a variety of local, Chinese, and Indian products including cotton, citrus fruit, beans, rice, especially jewelry. With nearly 3000 stores in a five-story, Zegyo market is hoping to power up your morning atmosphere with its vibration and liveliness.
From there, we cycle to Shwe Inn Bin Monastery, one of the most impressive monasteries in Mandalay built in traditional Burmese fashion in 1895. It’s huge and peaceful offers an interesting teakwood architecture and exquisite carvings to discover.
After sightseeing and greet to the monks at the monastery, follow your guide to Mahamuni Pagoda where you will admire the country’s holiest Buddha image. Together with sightseeing and observing the devotion of pilgrims in the pagoda, your guide will show you more knowledge about the various places in the life of the Buddha in the Mahamuni museum.
Leave the pagoda, we head to a local marble carving workshop where we witness the workers producing amazing Buddha images. We then also visit other workshops to discover the ancient royal handicrafts of tapestry and puppet making in Mandalay.
After a cozy lunch at a local teashop, we continue our cycling tour to a golden leaf production house to learn how the artisans create glittering golden leaves. If you wish, it is available to try your hands on making gold leaf under the guidance of the artisan. After that, proceed to Shwenandaw Monastery, an attractive wooden monastery which originally part of the Golden Palace. Spend your time to marvel at the intricated teakwood design that characterized on the wall and roof of the monastery and save your best photo.
Highlight your afternoon sightseeing with a last stop at Kuthodaw Pagoda – home to the largest book in the world made from marble tablets. Later, cycling back to your hotel. Trip ends. Thank you for making your Myanmar cycling trip with us! We hope to welcome you back to Myanmar in the future.
