In the morning, picked up by our local guide and driver, then your Mandalay excursion starts with a 30-minute scenic drive to Amarapura, the former royal capital in Myanmar which is well-known as the City of Immortalily. View the famous Buddhist monastery of Mahagandayon where more than a thousand monks live and study. Learn about the strick religious discipline in the monastery and observe the daily life of the Burmese monks.
The next highlight is U Bein bridge – one of the most famous tourist attractions in Mandalay dating back at the time when Amarapura was Royal capital. Stretching through 1.2 km over the serene Taungthaman Lake for over 200 years, the world’s longest teak-wood bridge has created a wonderful photo stop for photographers and drawn visitors from all over the world.
Then visit Bagaya Monastery, an ancient monastery built entirely by teak noted for a superb collection of Buddha statues.
After lunch at a local restaurant, travel by a short boat trip to the former Royal Capital of Inwa (also called Ava). Get on a horse-drawn carriage to explore the city’s highlights. Head to Nanmyint Watch Tower, the remains of the palace building name “the leaning tower of Ava”.
Then we move to Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, a fine example of the Burmese architecture from the time of Konbaung dynasty in the 19th century built of brick and stucco. Follow your guide to Bargayar Monastery which is famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts.
Later on, visit Sagaing Hill, one of the most important religious centers in Myanmar. Enjoy the tranquil sunset from the top of the hill before returning to Mandalay. Trip ends. We hope that you love the itinerary. Thank you for making your trip with us!
